KayakingKayak is great fun! Balance, speed, excitement, technique, hard work, enjoyment and an extreme form of contact with nature. These are just a few of the things you will experience on a kayak trip.
Ryfylke Kayak are there to provide the framework for this activity. They have proffesional instructors whose job it is to make sure you master both balance and technique.
The first hour will be spent getting to know the equipment and getting to grips with the technique as well as a fair deal of dry training.
An exploratory trip along the shoreline of Borgøy follows thereafter, where you will glide past the rocky coast, cross shallow reefs and experience seabirds at close range.
Reccommended attire for such journeys would be windproof and comfortable training clothes, something for your head and perhaps even sunglasses.
We also arrange kayak activities together with the local Tysvær Kayak and Canoe club, which has built one of the largest kayak centers in the country not far from Borgøy. Their club members offer instruction and follow along in a guide boat while you try out your balance at the training arena. The terraced fjord in which the arena is situated provides excellent protection from the wind.
Both the kayak trip around Borgøy and the experiences at the Tysvær Kayak and Canoe Arena are enough to earn a wet-card, which is the first step towards attaining the Norwegian Kayak Federation’s paddling certificate.
